Childhood

  • I’m the youngest child out of 4 (including myself).
  • My childhood was everything a kid could want. I was the favorite of my parents, my dad’s only girl, and mom’s only girly girl. I grew up on the west side of Knoxville, TN, where my parents were married, and when kids were still innocent. I was always a kid who loved to take on a role and that usually was the boss (lol). My sister had my first nephew when I was only 5, and for being the most spoiled and youngest, I was not ready for my nephew to take my place. But life happened I was still the favorite of course but I had to share some of my fame with my nephew. Being so young as an aunt me and my nephew’s relationship became more of him being my younger brother. We were inseparable nothing could stop us. A year later my dad got a job offering Arkansas for the corporate side of Walmart. We moved and life was a lot different it took some time to adjust but I quickly made friends and grew to love the small town. My 4th-grade year was a pivotal point in my life, one day I was in school and the next I’m in the car with my mom driving back to Tennessee. I was happy but also confused, how could parents not love each other anymore I began to think it was because of me. However, I learned to understand that some people aren’t meant for each other and that it wasn’t my fault. Life in Tennessee was good I was back with my mom’s side of the family and I would visit my dad during the summers and holidays. Everything was great I had met back up with old friends, family, and new faces. We would have Sunday dinners at my Grannys house it was something looking forward to all the family coming together the games played and the cute friends my cousin had. In the year 2014 I became an aunt to two, my sister had her second child and boy was that joy to my life he was a missing puzzle piece that we all needed. However, a year later my life took a turn again my grandmother had died from collin cancer on October 3, 2015. Tho it was very tuff losing her It drew the family closer together. That same year a little before that happened I had moved back with my father and was introduced to the sport I now love Basketball. The rest is history I still have great relationships with both my nephews and my parents are well “friends” lol.

Basketball (Why I choose Georgetown)

  • What was the reason for me choosing Georgetown? Let me start from the beginning. As a little girl, I did girlie things cheerleading, dance, and gymnastics. I started playing basketball at the age of 13, the same year I moved back with my father in Arkansas. Not being good at all the time something in me grew to love to a year to get better and love the sport. While I was in 8th grade I had no playing time, so that summer I worked my tail off probably went to over close to 200 pieces of training (just that summer). In my ninth grade year, I was no longer a bench warmer I started, and people were surprised how did I manage to get good so quick. As I started training more and playing more games, I realized that I can take this just further than basketball. The same year as a freshman I received my first d1 offer to play basketball. Something sparked in me I became more in tune to becoming better, the best I could be. Throughout my high school years I racked up more and more offers, I got to invited the USA trials, got ranked in my state as #1pointguard, and got ranked in the country as #20th point guard in the nation. My senior year came and I face a lot of adversity and a lot of hatred of fake people that wanted to see me fail. I started doing my official visits at the most prestigious schools in the country, the Ivy League, Pac 12, SEC, and Bigeast. Coming to my signing day there was no doubt in my mind that the school I choose would be home forever. The school choose was of course Georgetown. I based my decision on the legacy that was built here. John Thompson, man how I looked up to that man facing all the controversy that came his was he came out on top and showed the world that black people can do something in this life. He became the first black coach to win a national championship. After that, it’s history so many big names came here Sugar Rodgers, Allen Iverson, and Patrick Ewin. Knowing the tradition carried here made me so excited when receiving my offer to play here. My visit was nothing short of amazing the coaching staff, the campus, and most importantly my teammates. But that’s not the only thing that intrigued and moved me to come here it was the academics, I knew that going here I would be set after the basketball stopped bouncing. I could help my nephews be more than the stereotype that life had set for them, I could the neighborhood hero. So why did I choose Georgetown, because Georgetown is the first step to my bright future?
